📅 Starting Friday, July 11th | 4-week series
📍 John E. Painter Park, 1100 20th St., Grottoes VA
We’re kicking off this summer’s Bluegrass in the Park with music, community, and a special moment of remembrance. On opening night, we will dedicate the stage in honor of former Police Chief William "Bill" Davies, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. His service, bravery, and heart for this community will never be forgotten.

Trash Service Transition – Important Information
On Thursday, June 26th (your regular trash pickup day), Waste Management will be removing their green toters from your curbside location. You must have all green toters to the curb. This process may take more than one day, so please leave your containers at the curb until they are picked up.
EDITED TO ADD: Toters do not need to be empty. Waste Management will handle that.
At the same time — on June 26th and continuing through June 27th — Meridian will be delivering your new trash toters curbside. Your new toter(s) will be blue.
We’ve provided Meridian with the number of toters each household or business should receive. However, if you find that you received too few or too many, please contact Town Hall so we can get your account corrected and help you add or remove the extras. Each new toter will have a sticker with contact information for Meridian. The sticker will also indicate your new trash pickup day — either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on your location.
Dumpster Transition Notice – 12th & 13th Street and Carson Circle Residents – If you currently have a dumpster at your home, please be aware that Waste Management will be removing their dumpsters, and Meridian will be delivering new ones. We are working to ensure a smooth transition with minimal downtime between pickup and delivery. However, if there is a delay, we kindly ask that you do not pile trash in the area during the interim. Doing so will only make the process more difficult and create unnecessary mess for your neighbors.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our community clean! For more information from Meridian, please visit townofgrottoes.com/trash-service-transition-information/ . You can also sign up for notifications from them when services may be delayed.
IF YOU WILL BE OUT OF TOWN: We recommend asking a trusted neighbor or someone else you know to pull your green toter(s) to the curb on Wednesday evening for pickup by Waste Management. Unfortunately, the Town Staff are not in charge of the pickup and won’t be able to do this on your behalf.
A text alert will be sent out next week to remind everyone.

🚧 Traffic Alert – Weekday Road Closures on Dogwood Avenue 🚧
Starting Friday, June 20, 2025, Dogwood Avenue at 6th Street will be closed weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for ongoing water line replacement work heading toward 3rd Street. Additional closures along Dogwood may also be needed as the project moves forward.
🚗 The road will reopen each evening, but please use caution — the surface will be temporarily filled with gravel, which may cause uneven driving conditions.
We encourage all drivers and residents to use alternate routes during work hours and plan accordingly.
🙏 Thank you for your patience as we work to improve our town’s infrastructure!
