🎆 Fireworks Safety Reminder from Meridian Waste 🎆

As we celebrate this Independence Day, please remember to dispose of fireworks properly and safely!

💥 DO NOT place used or unused fireworks in your trash can while they’re still hot or active — this creates a serious fire risk.

✅ Here's how to safely dispose of fireworks:

Soak used fireworks in a bucket of water for at least 15 minutes (overnight is best!).

Wrap the soaked fireworks in plastic or double-bag them to keep them from drying out.

Place them in your regular trash — never in recycling.

🧨 If you're unsure or have a large amount to dispose of, call Meridian Waste or Town Hall for guidance.

Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe and fire-free this holiday! 🔥🇺🇸

🚰 Important Update for Our Utility Customers 🚰

If you receive your water bill via email, you might notice that the due date says 7/7/2025. Please forgive our humanness! 😅 We made an error while entering the dates and didn’t realize it until a kind citizen brought it to our attention.

Rest assured, water bills are not considered late until August 6th, so no need to worry about the misprint!

For those of you who receive printed bills, we can still add a note to clarify the correct due date, but unfortunately, for those who receive bills by email, the "damage" is already done.

Thank you for your understanding, and a big shoutout to the helpful person who spotted the mistake! 🙏

We’re always here if you have any questions or concerns. Stay hydrated! 💧💙 @followers

Let’s Talk Trash… Literally. 🗑️

Here’s the latest on the toter transition in Grottoes:

🔵 Meridian is still delivering the new blue toters and has let us know that the final 70 may not arrive until Saturday morning. We understand some residents in town (we have reached out to Meridian to find out where so we can edit this post once we know) may be without a toter until then. If you have no other option for tonight, the landfill site on 20th Street is open. It’s not ideal, but we hope it’s just a short window of inconvenience — thank you for your patience!

💚 Waste Management has been seen removing the green toters, but we don’t have a pickup schedule or the route they're running. Please just leave your green toter at the curb and it will be collected.

📞 Important note: This is all the information Town Hall has right now. If you call, we’ll tell you exactly what you just read — and honestly, we know you’ve got better things to do with your Friday afternoon than chat with us about trash!

✅ If you think you received the wrong number of toters from Meridian, that’s when you should call us. We reported the number based on what you're billed for. We’re happy to:

* Confirm your account,
* Request an additional toter ($3 added to your bill per toter),
* Or arrange pickup for extras.

Just know: Any changes will be handled next week. If you need to report an issue outside business hours, please use the contact form on our website instead of the answering service townofgrottoes.com/contact/

Thanks again for hanging in there with us as we wrap up the transition! @followers

🚛 Trash Toter Transition Update 🚛

The transition between Waste Management and Meridian Waste is still underway and will continue into tomorrow (Friday). We’ve received several calls about when toters will be delivered or picked up—unfortunately, we don’t have access to the specific routes Meridian or Waste Management are using.

👉 If you have not received your new toter by noon on Friday, please give Town Hall a call and we’ll follow up with Meridian on your behalf.

So far, things have gone pretty smoothly—thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation as we complete this transition! 💚 townofgrottoes.com/trash-service-transition-information/

Edited to add: do NOT pull the green toter back to your house. Leave at curb for pickup.

Scheduled Water Service Interruption – Thursday, June 26, 2025

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, it will be necessary to temporarily shut off water service on GRACE STREET in order to complete a water line repair.

🕐 Estimated Time of Interruption: Around 1:00 PM
⏱️ Estimated Duration: Less than 1 hour

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we complete this necessary work. Service will be restored as quickly as possible once the repair is complete.

After service is restored:
If your water appears cloudy or discolored, we recommend the following steps to flush your lines:

Turn on cold water taps only.

Let the water run for 3–5 minutes, or until it runs clear.

Begin with the lowest faucet in your home (such as a basement sink), then move to higher fixtures.

This helps clear any air or sediment that may have entered the lines during the repair.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
