Purpose of the Planning Commission

The Planning Commission works with the Town Council to help plan for the future of our community. From reviewing development ideas to making recommendations on town improvements, the Commission helps guide thoughtful growth in Grottoes. It’s made up of seven local residents who are appointed by the Town Council and volunteer their time to serve.

Comprehensive Plan - Adopted 7.14.2025

After months of public input, discussion, and careful planning, the Town of Grottoes is proud to share the final version of our Comprehensive Plan. This document outlines the long-term vision for growth, development, and community priorities over the next 20 years. Whether you’re a resident, business owner, or simply interested in the future of Grottoes, we invite you to explore the plan and see how our community is working together to shape what’s next.

This is the final version as submitted to the Town on June 30, 2025. Council voted to approve it at the July 14, 2025 meeting.

Membership and Terms

Total Members: 7 members appointed by the Town Council

Residency Requirement: All members must be residents of Grottoes

Qualifications: Must have knowledge and experience in growth and development

Council Representation:

One member may be a Town Council member

One member may be a town administrative officer

Term Length: 4 years

Vacancies: Filled by Town Council for the remainder of the unexpired term
