🚸 When to Stop for a School Bus 🚸
Rockingham County Schools begin Thursday, August 21st—so please take a moment to review Virginia’s school bus safety laws:
🛑 When a school bus extends its stop sign, you must stop—no matter which direction you’re coming from—on highways, private roads, or in school driveways. Stay stopped until all children are safely off the bus and the bus starts moving again.
✅ The only exception: if you’re driving the opposite direction on a road with a physical median or barrier separating you from the bus. Still, stay alert—kids can be unpredictable.
đź“· Many buses now have cameras on their stop-arms, and violations can result in a penalty.
Let’s all do our part to keep students safe this school year!
